I have a RO Unit at home for home consumption. It has the 3-stage filters on the bottom and has a membrane on the top as well (not too sure what it does)

It has a crack in it and it needs some maintenance.

However, the local guys here have quoted me R1600 for this and I still can't use it for marine water ... needs to be dionised.

Where can I get a good RO unit from that I can use for home consumption and also for the hobby ? (may have to have some sort of bypass)

Triple 5 also bring in a RO unit. Any Good LFS should stock one or try Nemo's janitor and see if they can help you out.

    hello

@Monti....apologies, i was out when you skyped me and was talking to victor via email on my iphone.

just so certain people get a point here..... let me go slightly off track here......
lets take this thread for instance.......
a member asks for advise on r.o.units......another member directs him to a sponser who specialises in this field. (the watertboy - me)......
someone else goes and directs him to 2 other companies that belong to the same people in some way.... one that import a range of items....but i assure you do not specialise in the reverse osmosis & water purification field (no offence keith - im trying trying to make a point )....the other that install and maintain systems.
like most they import and distribute a vast range of products (no offence keith) but do not specialise in the Water purification field
and people wonder why there were less exhibitors at the expo!!!
    think about that carefully.

    okay, back to R.O..........
we basically quoted on custom a building a 8 stage system that includes 2 parts....one that feeds a drinking water faucet and passes through minerals etc etc, the other that diverts to a deionising chamber without passing the storage tank with rubber bladder.

This is the reply I got from Marco:

We assemble a unit custom that has a filmtec membrane aswell as the mineral chambers for the drinking water side....we then put valves in place that you turn when using drinking water and vice versa for marine r.o.water that diverts the water through a resin chamber, the unit has a storage tank and will be a 8 stage unit

I can't speak on behalf of him for pricing etc, but the man is very helpful and sharp : 082 879 3943

    Made sense to me !!

Just out of interest, the unit I have at home actually does have a tank - I was wrong ... but I rekon I am still going to go with you on a new unit. This one is old and would still need to be modified ... I am not convinced that's the right way to go.

    told ya.....
depends on your budget man.....if you want we can revamp the old one....
only concern is that the bladder in the tank will be well worn too by now so you may encounter issues later on........thus adding to the replacement parts list and possible future headaches.....
if you can....lets do it right.....:yeahdude:
if not, then ill help you get the old one right:thumbup:...
