    Ok, fine, Ill do it:

You have two buckets, one is 5L and the other is 3L.

You need to get EXACTLY 4L into the 5L bucket. (No eye judgement :p )

    How?

A boat has a ladder that has six rungs, each rung is one foot apart. The bottom rung is one foot from the water. The tide rises at 12 inches every 15 minutes. High tide peaks in one hour.
When the tide is at its highest, how many rungs are under water?

fill the 5L empty it into the 3L
toss the 3L leaving 2Litres in the 5L
transfer the 2Litres from the 5L to the 3L
    fill the 5L again
then fill the rest of the 3L up, leaving 4L in the 5L bucket

you have a piece of wick (fuse) exactly 1m long and takes exactly 1 min to burn, the wick also doesn't burn at a contact rate though, how can you use this wick to determine exactly 30 seconds?

Either: you will see the light shine down into the ground floor, OR:
Step outside to see the light burning ;)

That said - the light-house light does not really require a switch - as the light MUST always burn! Right? ;)

Switch the first light switch on, leave on for 5 minutes and switch off.
Switch 2nd one on, Walk up, if light is not burning, feel the lamp, if warm, it must be the 1st switch, if cold, must be the 3rd;)

The switch for a light house light is at the top so the three switches at the bottom wont have any bearing on the lighthouse main light??

Man, do not get technical :p, it was merely a test:razz:. I could say a three story building with no windows and only one smmmmmmaalllllll staircase with an automated loft door where no light can shine thru and that you are alone and not allowed to use an apprentice:whistling:, instead, I went for the "seaside" look:biggrin:

For the wick. You light both ends. No need for doubling up. They will meet somewhere along the length at thirty seconds
