    Hello there,

My name is Riaan and I am from Rustenburg.

I recently bought a small tank (Boyu TL-550) 128l with a few critters in already, the reef is still not established.

Already had some problems with overheating and power trips but at the moment it is starting to look good.

Thanks very much for the warm welcome.

The tank is a second hand or already established tank I bought from a pet shop. (Please spare me the Pet Shops suck speech)

I have had some nasty experiences since buying it about 2 weeks ago with power outages and temperature running away being the tshirt I already have.

Anyway I had a anemone in there that i have let go after speaking to Lanzo (thanks for your kind advice).

I have been pondering this for the last couple of years and been reading up in some books before I bought the tank (OK I should have known better). I read quite a bit on the internet until I came here. Looks like I will not need to go any further.

    The tank has:
    • Too much rocks
    • Starfish
    • Regal Tang
    • Yellow Fin Tang
    • Fire Goby
    • Normal Clown
    • Yellowtail Damsel
    • Yellow Watchman Goby
    • Blue Streak Cleaner Wrasse
    • Some Soft Corals (I dont know the names)
    • Pistol Shrimp
    • Some small crabs
    • Several Snails
    • Hermit Crab
From my experience scuba diving I like the small stuff like crabs and nudibrancs and cleaner wrasse and prawns. My ideal tank would contain reef with as many as possible of the small critters. I bought the watchman goby when i read that it forms a symbiosis with the pistol shrimp. At the moment it is hovering outside the burrow that one of the shrimp made under the rocks.

I spoke to Lanzo earlier today and on his advice I think that I may have to upgrade to a bigger tank. ;)

2 weeks and loads of problems I am already hooked.
