Great Riaan will be beautiful when it is done. Why don't you connect the new tank to your filter room?

No no Daniel son. must stroke up and down
well, he did manage to get black paint on the wall behind the tank... :whistling:
Check the mark right above his hands.
He does need some training in painting techniques.

yeah yeah.
But it was him.

If it was not for the bit of a spare tire mid life added around my waste, I would have done it. Eish, I need to start some exercise routine...

To everybody, thanks for the support and compliments.

Anyway, changed my mind on the overflow box.
Tested my new design based on the Bean animal overflow last night. Using a Water Blaster 5000L/h pump. Still need to redo this test using the DC12000 pump to see if it can really handle big turnovers.

Anyway

Using old bucket.
The pipe on the right is the one supposed to run full siphon. I did add a ball valve after these pictures were taken to get it right. Using soil vent valves as Durso pipes. On the right there are 2 holes, closed up with a bit of silicone for the test. Seems I need to add two airline tubes to get it right. The amount of air via one pipe does not work.

I suspect that using a 12000L/h pump will force another full siphon standpipe. If I can recall correctly, somewhere it was mentioned that one 50mm pipe can handle around 6000L/h.

I did add the ball valve, and it was really quite. Impressive, taking into account that it is 5000L/h running.

Just need to play a bit more to see if I can get the airline right, and that it does start correct after the pump was switched off. it does seem to take a while to flush the air out of the full siphon pipe and to stabilize.

Not much happened end of last week.

Anyway, played a bit more on the overflow box. Opened up the internals of the full siphon vent valve on the left with a Dremmel to ensure maximum flow.

Just tested this overflow with a Jabea 12000L/h DC pump. Slight adjustment on the ball valve and it works beautifully. Now with testing done, its time to build the new overflow box.

Very impresive for 5000l/h, looking forward to see the final design
Tested with a DC12000 Jabea.

Works very very well, silent. Can hear a slight trickle up very close, like less than 30cm.

hopefully, this weekend I can continue.

Nope... had plans for a while... Remember we talked about it. OK, this one is not as wide (front to back) as we did discussed this time last year. WOW time flies....

Anyway... Update time. Something did happen.

Had to wait for Deon to come around. Its not as if I can just take the tank to somebody to drill it for me.

New overflow exit holes drilled.

And the old outlet holes closed up with the front piece of the old overflow box.
