I want to know what size ( l/h ) return pump I need to get for my system.
It will be a fish only system.

The systems total volume is around 820 liters, so the running volume will be a bit less than that.
    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

    Henk:)

first, are you running with a DSB?
If yes, how wide is your (front to back) is your sump?

Old "rule" was 3 to 5 times your display volume turnover via your sump per hour.
But I think a better rule will be a nice water head over the dividers in your sump of between 6 and 10mm. This will allow for different size sumps.

Problem is that first "rule" is easy to work out. 800L display system * 3 to 5 is 2400 or 4000L/h. So any pump that deliver between 2400 and 4000 L/h at whatever the rim height is of your display tank.

Second rule, you need to experiment to find your ideal pump

I will be running a DSB.

My DSB compartment is going to be 68cm long and 40 cm wide...
I am looking at putting the sand up between 15 - 20 cm . The compartment is 30cm high

my sump is 45cm wide. And I'm using a Water Blaster HY-5000W, pushing 5000L/h using 60W. Max head at 3.5 meters. It is a lot better than the previous 3000L/h pump. Not more settlement on my DSB.

But in my setup, not all the water go directly back to my display. I run my return via a garden irrigation splitter into 4 lines. A line to the main display, another to the cryptic tank, another to my remote DSB and the last to the second display. A little bit more complex...
