    Hey masa
I'm busy collecting all the odds and ends for my tank.
What rating should my return pump be.
I was looking at getting a pump with a rating of 3000lph and fitting a ball valve on it so that I can regulate the flow if its too strong.
What are your suggestions on the return pump.

If you haven't bought the pump yet look at the WavelineDC range. It has a controller on it to regulate flow .. no need for a ball valve :)

Sounds like a nice sized sump.
Yip, the waveline dc pumps really are great! I have one myself & i enjoy every second with it. Ive had to turn it down a bit as it pumps way too much!
You will find the controller to be a great idea, & the feeding mode also comes in handy (pauses the pump for 10min when pushing the button!) it has 6 different speeds & the best part is there is absolutely 0 chance of electrocuting yourself with stray electricity as its only 24V

Will order one of these pumps.
What size return pipe to you guys think I should use
    I was thinking of a 32mm upvc pipe ?
And the return pipe outlet do I keep it above water level and do I angle it so it causes a circular flow to the overflow box

on a 450mm wide sump, and if you are planning a DSB you need a pump that delivers 3000L/h into the sump, after head lost and back pressure. Then you need a bigger pump, maybe the 5000L/h Waveline.

What is the head hight of the tank bud . Keep in mind that your pump loses A LOT of flow rate the higher the pump needs to deliver the water to the display pump

I was thinking of getting a bigger pump or plumbing up a pressure pump that has more flow which I can regulate each outlet with ball valves so each outlet has equal flow

yeah possible, but uses 4 to 5 times as much power for the same flow.
