    Hey Guys

What size return pump should I put in my sump?

The display is 4FT L shape (4 ft + ft) and about 40 cm deep (One corner over flow in the back of the L)
The sump is 3ft L shape (3ft +3ft) and about 30 cm deep

The Resun SP6600 is 2400L/ph very quiet (quieter than the king range) your tank being about 250L and sump 2 x 3ft being about 180L = 430 x 3 times turnover 1290 lph

and some head loss this pump would be a great budget unit

A closed loop basically mean that, instead of unsightly powerheads you run the pipe from the sump around the tank with outlets from the pipe to add flow to the tank, there can be quite a lot of loss from the piping so a bigger pump is required for a closed loop as opposed to a simple return.

Closed loop I would rather go for something like the Ocean Runners from AM, much pricier, but I a closed loop leaks you mop:p

A simple return pipe, from the pump in the sump, up and over the back and straight into the top of the tank, it is simple but it works, saves much drilling and messing around.

Don't forget to use PVC Weld on all the joins, it also works very well between the PVC and silicone tubing.
