    Hey there fellow reefers!

Question - what can I place my return pump on in the sump - it seems to "rattle" a bit and make allot of noise. If I lift it off the bottom then it quiet!

    any ideas from you guys?

    Thanks

Does the pump not have suction cups? I would suggest maybe putting it on a side wall. Or maybe some eggcrate below it?

Just dont know if this will help thou

don't have either of those at the moment.

Can I rest it on a folded up filter bag or something?

    Hi Pugsly,

Had the same prolem with mine! Ended up "suspending it" mid water with cables attached from above. Then just went and got a decent "quiet" pump..they are not cheap though...but the noise (or lack thereof) is worth the cash! Try the suction and eggcrate...if no joy then try suspending it if you can!

    Good luck!

What pump do you have? Have you opened it up to see if something is caught in it?

You can buy sucktion cups then cable tie them down. That should work.

Placing the pump on a piece of sponge will also work. My Lifetech AP4660 makes a humming noise when on its suction cups. Placing it on a thin piece of sponge made a big difference.

    Good to see it sorted

Just remember to clean the sponge as it will build up nasties.
