    HI Guys

    I have a 490/500L display tank and a 90L odd sump,

My curent return pump spec's indicate about 750L an hour return ..... is this sufficient? or should i be looking at a much higher rate?

    cheers

well im running a 350L display and have a 8000l/h return pump. its pretty high but it creates some nice flow in my tank. I think 750l/h is to slow in my opinion

the pump i have is specked at 3500L an hour, but with the head to contend with I estimate it to be at 750L an hour ..... is your return an effective 1800lh or is that the pump spec at 0m head???

on my 2500L (total system volume) i will be running a smallish pump that will give me +- 6000l/h at 2M head high. my sump is 600wide so i will have a slow gentle flow over the DSB and the cheato. in the tank there will be a 12000l/h CLS and 2 or 3 palorios when they come out.

Remember we do not want too much of flow from sump to tank.Rather focus on flow inside the DT.What is the height from your sump to the top of your DT?

The vertical distance is 1.6m with 3 bends in the pipe....

So far i have one M820 and one no name brand powerhead in the DT, but that will be upgraded this weekend ....
