Morning. It seems I have found a hairy hitchhiker crab "Which I have not seen in the years my tank has been running -_-..." Which now seems to have grown a taste for my Pulsing Xenia Corals, the damn thing has chopped one of my Xenia heads in half and kicked the rock it was on over! The rock was situated next to the hole it pops in and out of. I need advise to get this pain in the backside out as he is deeply burrowed into a big rock which I cant remove. Either that or my Snowflake Eel is going to have to find alternative food sources very quickly :whistling: j/ks

    Try and set a trap.
Take a glass tumbler and put a piece of calamari at the bottom (I hold mine in place with a plastic washing peg) and lean it against the rock where he lives.

Leave it overnight. Once he goes for the bait he can't get out because of the slippery sides of the glass.

I think u gave me a dud eel lol!. As for the heading, never. The crab is retarded for cutting my xenia head in half. I spend enough time propagating these things...

The flippen local crabs get's into the tank very easily. I had 3 already. And you only see them at night. Managed to catch two and the other one, I had to remove the rock.

The one was hairy creamish, sitting in a hole moving and cleaning himself.
The other one was black, came out at dark to look for food. I actually thought it was an emerald crab, but they are usually green.
The last one, was also creamish. Actually saw this one during the day.

Petrus they aren't local ones...they generally come in on liverock or corals that we buy and grow out in our tanks. I think the only way u would get a local crab in your tank is if u put it there intentionally or if u using rock out the sea ;)

Thanks Kunhardt, thought they were local. Actually, I got some rock at Kei River, but it was high and dry. Maybe, I don't know.
