I have a reeftek ts4 skimmer with 2 octopus 3000 pumps. The one pump was making a noise so i opened it an noticed that the ceramic shaft on the wheel was worn. I would like to know if i can get the parts separate and where can i find the parts? Also i would like to know what is the difference between a needle wheel and a pin wheel and what would be the best to put in my pumps?

Local you need to buy the whole impeller and the shaft as one complete unit...

hey EFJ - check with Aquarium Depot - they may be able to source u part and send to your local lfs.

Do you have a pick of whats wrong? I recently modded my impellor due to the racket it created. Working like a charm and skimming like a beast!

parts should be freely available from anyone who stocks aquarium depot stock, as for the pin and needle wheel difference one has vertical standing spikes the other horizontal, it escapes me which is which right now...

I don't have a pic but i do know that the ceramic bush on the impeller is worn and the shaft itself is also quite a bit warn away, so the whole impeller unit needs to be replaced. Just for interest what mod did you do to your impeller?
