Very nice setup and very good pictures! Do you get the starfish for the harlequin locally and how often do you feed him?

Thank you, just been using an iPhone :)

Yes I get them locally and freeze them....I feed him half a frozen one when he starts hunting around the tank...roughly once a week or so

That's crazy. It's so simple but I didn't realize they eat frozen. I thought you had to collect live or run a separate starfish tank.

Is he generally out and about or a bit of a lurker?

Nice looking tank:thumbup: Love the harlequin. I have a pair and they have grown a lot since I got them. I however just throw the star fish in my tank and let them find it for themselves.

I only see him about 25% of the time....comes out and walks around the tank when he starts getting hungry, or just sits there waiting. Then when I feed him he disappears for a couple of days.
To me its still nice just knowing he's in there :)

Thanks for the compliments! Do they stay together in a pair mostly?
I used to also feed him a live star once in a while, but it started becoming a hassle to get a live one everytime...so i thought I'd try a frozen one, and he grabbed it straight away.

Yes they do stay together but mine are so huge that they make the starfish look small.
I go and collect a few and add them to my system so when they get hungry they can go hunting on there own:)

Rainard, i have 2 pairs of Harlequins. I see mine every day and walking around in the tank. In the first few month they love to sit in spots with no direct light, mine so use to the lights now. Once a month pic a handful throw it in the tank.i post once telling about my one male and female. The tread started can a fish feels, something like that. I explain there what i witness that evening watching the male protecting his female. I still cry if i think of that evening. The love and devotion between them. Lol you don't get it in most humans. Do yourself a favor get a mate for him or her. And for your Harlequin they need their mates to be real harlequin..

I considered doing this at first, but thought he would just end up killing all the starfish straight away and turn my tank into a phosphate factory...maybe i'll give it a try and hope he only kills one when he's hungry. That way I'll have some starfish as well...at least for a while:)

Wow I didn't know they're that cool in pairs...I'll definitely look into getting the little guy a girlfriend. I hope they'll get along. Maybe that way he'll be out more as well. Thanks for the advice!
