    Hey
I'm interested to get one of the regal angels, I've read that they are hard to keep but with a large tank and allot of live rock it is possible. Has anyone got any experience with this fish and if you do what did you do to get it to eat and remain healthy.
    Thanks:thumbup:

Never had one (not an angel fan ...sorry Yuri ). They will nip at most softies, clams & LPS. Largely a carnivore of sorts requiring regular feeding, also doesnt like aggro tank mates...my 2 C

only the yellow belly's will survive in captivity.

Last year we imported one that lived in a clients tank up til 2 months ago....passed away due to a black out

I have also tried to keep a blue belly regal angel...but the dont last.

Yeh from my experience most arrive in poor health. They seem to be bloated and some even have their inners coming out of the anal. I assume it is because it is a deep water fish and caught and surfaced incorrectly. Like with cyanide. I stopped ordering them about 5 years ago because of their poor survival rate.

the most important thing is to get a very healthy specimen and take it from there. this is def a very difficult specie to keep, BUT def possible

Cool the reason for this post is because there is an eating small regal angel that look good at pet stop and would like to know if it's fine if I add it to my tank.

Alan had one in his tank for quite a while, not sure if it's still alive or not.

Geeez guys, keep it tidy. Yes it is still going strong but is absolute hell on the LPS corals. I almost sure that is why i lost my clam, but dont have any proof.

Guys It is funny how people form an opinion of a fish or coral. This particular Angel, and i tried very hard, i have had zero successes with and a number of other species. The opinion i concluded then, was caused by the then importer bringing in this species from the Philippines. I was informed today that it was later found out that these fish were in fact "CYNIDE CAUGHT".

So my efforts in those days were always going to fail.

I am told that the yellow bellies from coral farm have a much better success rate. So i will try again one day.

    Sorry if i caused negatives
