    Hi all

We use ro water to calibrate or Refractometer,ro does not have any salt in ok. Now so if your ro water temp is 10 or 20 or30 will it make a diff in the calibration?

If there is no salt you can set it at 0? no mater the temp of the ro? Just want to see if I'm missing something.

so far i know the temp does not have an influence on the calibration, only water quality. as pure as u can get. i use RO/DI water

I would not worry about the temperature.

Just let the calibration fluid (RO) sit on the plate for a minitue or so to adjust to the meter's temp

If your meter does not have ATC then the temp will play a small difference on calibration liquids. The best is to float a small sealed test tube of distilled water in your tank water for about 10 minutes and then use that liquid to zero your meter

Thank you, started with water change to early in the morning. Got confused with nsw mix that temp must be the same as tank water to get the correct salinity not to calibrate my meter:p o and had a:peroni:or two last night

As Tony said. My refractometer is not ATC, so I float a seringe full of RO (plugged in the front to prevent saltwater from entering)in my tank water so that RO is the exact same temp as salt water. Then the SG must be accurate as the refractometer shows the difference between the two at the same temp :)
