Hows does your sump look? Mine is inlet in a small box and then over onto 4 filtersocks. Into skimmer chamber that has a baffle that flows over into the refugium chamber and then into return chamber. I wont put skimmer before filter socks

I red some people put carbon in a bag underneath that black sponge before return chamber. Actually a bubble trap but good flow will go through it then

Thought same thing RE bag of carbon in chamber underneath black sponge forcing flow through there as a final step to filtration regimen. My setup exactly same. Guy who helped me do installation advised skimmer 1st but will rather go with your recommendation, don’t have it yet but don’t see how it would fit into the small inlet chamber. Also- skimmer chamber before fuge, thanks! Your thoughts on copepods in refugium? Bare or DSB?

No skimmer will fit in that chamber. What skimmer did you get? Area to small for a dsb. Im going with a few LR pieces i have left with refugium ontop. Pods will go through return into display. Jip i learned here you go mechanical, biological and then chemical filtration. So phos and carbon last

Quick Q: To skim or not to skim whilst tank cycling?

I have been wondering the same thing. Red a few threads on reef2reef and they leave them off for the first few weeks so that the good bacteria does not get skimmed out

I think it depends whether the skimmer is new or not. Maybe just take the cup of and let it run and break in. I would imagine the extra oxygen in the water will help the cycle as it provides More oxygen for the the aerobic bacteria. The bacteria is mostly on the surface of the rock and media, so don’t think too much will be skimmed out.

This is the first time I have seen the sumps on this model of tank, do you have any more pics of it? Curious to see how it is structured :)

Called around and had a few options, guys who did my installation said they’ve been using pratley for years without any problems, also saw a few MASA members using it, so when in Rome...
