    Hey all

I have one of the old school ReefTek TS3 skimmers with 2 x Octopus 2000 pumps, it's a good few years old now and I'm getting a bit tired of these pumps shocking me, it's starting to bite quite a bit now, lol.

Has anybody found a direct replacement pump that fits perfectly in place of the Octopus 2000? Preferably something with a needle or pin wheel?

    Thanks.

its a coral antifiddler device specifically, it triggers when you stick your hands in when you should be leaving well enough alone:tt2:...

I'm actually thinking of a 2nd hand Deltec APF600 if I can't find any decent pumps, but I love my TS3, it skims like an absolute beast.

lol, problem is I keep banging my hand against the lights in my hood, one of these days I'm going to smash a tube. I know the shock is coming but it still nails you, I've learned the trick is to brace yourself and just throw your hand in there and try keep it in, once it's in you're good to go, it's just the entry and exit that's painful.

If the pumps are biting you, what about the fish? DO you have a ground probe (think that is what you call it) in the tank? Will that make a difference?

fish wont really feel it, as they are not earthed. they might sense the added current, but no shocks

I had the same problem once. I just took the pump out, dried it thouroughly and filled it with silicon in the back there where the wire comes out until flush with the plastic cover. It takes a while to dry, but the shock was gone :)

No ground probe, I believe it does help, although there are 2 VERY different schools of thought on that one and I always believe, if in doubt - don't :p

I can't do Resun or Octopus :( I need Eheim or something else.

Only if you pay for it :p

I think I'll try that this weekend, thanks.

dude the Skimz es2800 should be a great fit for your skimmer if you are willing to do the DIy to get it to fit. It pumps around 760lph air quite a bit more then the 2 OTP2000's that you currently have as they draw around 300lph air each, The pump is an eden pump which is the EXACT same as the Eheim silent range. Great skimmer pumps and you wont go wrong. Alternately get 2*sicce psk 600 skimmer pumps and add them you will not go wrong, they pump around 600lph air each so you will need to have the water level low in the skimmer but it will work
