I just want to know if the spectral output as well as the light output will be affected if I use a reeftek pendant with geisemann bulbs. The pendant comes with cooling fans but I dont know if the ballast is electronic or magnetic. Can anyone help in this matter

Are you refering to MH units?

If you are speaking T5, arent they all electronic ballasts?

Nope you can buy the cheaper copper wound ballasts but they very insufficient in power consumption LOL and cuts the life of the lamps dramatically. :whistling:

All pendants I think is electronic ballasts since they are smaller and no need for starters. But you can also get the magnetic ones stand alone.

I personally dont see why the spectrum from using one electronic ballast will be different to another just because of manufacturer. I bet most of the manufacturers use the same ballasts made in china in anyway. So apart from design and brand I cant see why the tubes will be different. The only thing that will effect output is the quality and design of the reflectors.

Thanks for the input. I just wish reeftek had a web site where I can get better specs on the light fittings

Tony I have used the Reeftek 4x 39W unit before with Geisemann T5's, in fact, my dad still uses them and there was no issues with bulb life or performance that I could see...
