    Hi

I cant seem to find much info on this tube. Can anyone shed any light (pun intended) :p

I wanna replace my 6 T5's and looking at the options. Currently running 4x 12k and 2x actinic.

    Was thinking of 4 x12k , 1x actinic, 1x coral blue....

    Make sense?

Mostly softies in the tank with 1 LPS and 5 SPS

It looks ok at the moment....... I also run a blue LED strip which gives a bit of blue to the tank.

Do the coral blue tubes help with growth or is it just for looks, thats my main question i guess

Coral blue will help with growth as well.

If you wanintg your zoas to look amazing, you should consider a giesman aquapink.

I'm gonna hang around this thread for info and prices... I'm also going to be due for a 6 bulb change.
    Why not 3-14k 2-blue 1-pink?
    Just curious . . .

@rakabos .. Hey dude, I run sylvania coral stars an my zoas glow, I run 2coral stars,4xactinic an 2x10000k... Will be adding 2 geiseman aqua pinks an 2xpower chromes in later stage, but the moral of this is sylvania coral star is pretty awesom an inexpensive

I have found that the reefteks loose intensity pretty quickly,I'd rather pay the extra R200 and get ATI or gessieman,oh and the osram 8000k t5's are nice daylight tubes powerful crisp white par output and cheap too.

459b has pointed you in the right direction with regards to colours;)

is possible but what is the light spectrum. the kelvin rating is also higher than natural light whitch is 6700k ...

maybe i should contact you as here in jhb they sel for 200 and up...80 is realy cheap...

I cant go without it...have been using coral star for over 10jr and believe in it espesialy for softies...you should try and ad a marine glo from hagen with it...its a actnic...a bit expencive but they work...

The spectrum is cool,i checked the graphs from osram a while back, peaks at key points regarded as key in coral growth....6700k is pretty yellow bud,a few meters into the sea and we already hitting around 13000k so even 8000k is too white to use alone for aesthetic purposes in a marine aquarium "look" IMO,however it will do just fine for growth.

You can use 20000k and it will still give of some light in the 6700k range;)

The Reeftek Coral Blue, Hagen Marine Glo & Sylvinia Actinic (coral star) all have the same colour spectrum. The interesting one is the 10 000K AquaClear white/pink from Sylvinia. Hope I got the names correct, same price in P.E as well and 54w costs R140.
