I decided to go with a reefoctopus TS4 skimmer, looks awesome but very limited instructions. I have it all connected and running but feel it needs some fine tuning. Tank has been cycling for a month now so I would like to get the foam dry and optimum skimming.

You'll see there is a pee hole under the cup. Adjust the water level by lifting the outlet pipe up and down (my TS2 works like that). To skim more wet the water level needs to be closer to the hole. For dryer skimming, the water level needs to be lower in the compartment.
The skimmer won't produce dark skimmate already seeing that the tank is still cycling, depending on the die-off on the live rock, but that will be mostly finnished after a month. The skimmer will pick up as the bio-load increase as you stock the tank after being fully cycled.
Just remember to clean the pump and the venturi regularly ;)

Awesome skimmer, got one on my new 6ft reef. Also cycling so no skimmate - as per oom Tobes above, give it time to settle

You mean they say "Ja AHHHHHH Shame Tobes"

Very cool skimmer man and great value for money;)I've also got one on my 6ft setup. Is it the one with 2Xocto 3000 pumps?Give the skimmer time to settle in. It will take a couple of days to start producing decent skimmate because of the "oils" from the manufacturing process. As Tobes has mentioned, keep the water level slightly beneath the pee hole for optimum skimming and soon you will have great skimmate:)

Hi, the skimmer seems awesome but I'm still cycling 6 weeks down the line. I will slowly start transferring my stock from the existing tank this week. My display tank is 1000l and the sumps about 400l.
