    Hi all,

I have a DNW250 and need to replace the 2 pumps.
At the moment it has 2 Resun King 3 needle wheel pumps rated at 2400L per hour.

The Resuns I have uses 35w per hour, but see the newer pumps use 25w per hour.

Should I stick with the resuns, or what other options do I have?
Keep in mind that I'm trying to save electricity, but don't want to skimp on quality.

Lean , IMHO (and I am not a sparky :)) but saving 10 W / hr per pump is not worth the expense , rather wait untill they pack up and then start changing them

If I calculate (and my math sucks sometimes) it would take 100 hours (4 days) to make up the difference in monetary value. Not sure what you are paying in CT for electricity but it just doesnt seem justified.....lets see what the others say

sounds like good advice when they pack up id personally look at a low wattage pump that could service the skmmer to the same o better effieciency..

The OPT-3000 Needle Wheel seems like a great replacement!
At 2800L / H and only using 41W per hour!

At 1K per pump it is expensive!

Lean remember thats water draw...you want good air draw ...I would then rather consider Bubbleblaster or Sicce (MHO)

Frans, I hear what you say, but buying 2 very expensive pumps and still repairing the skimmer? I can almost buy a brand new Bubble blaster skimmer!

I see that most of the Reef Octopus skimmers use the OPT-3000 pumps :)
