I lost 2 clowns shortly after introducing a red cleamer shrimp - replaced them only to lose them both in one night. The shrimp was feeding off a dead clown. They were in the tank for about 2 weeks before they died - all the other fish are fine - all compatible fish. The shrimp seems to be the aggressor - all the stuff i have read says it is peacefull but I beginning to have my doubts

The cleaner shrimp wont kill your clowns but if they are dead they will feed off the dead fish. My clowns and cleaner shrimp are still living peacefully after a year. how long have you had your tank? how big is it? tell us more about it,like the volume, filtration, age, livestock , flow etc. Also post a pic as a pic can say alot. The more info we have the easier it will be to help you. Have you got the same shrimp as this or does it look different?[IMG]

I don't believe a cleaner shrimp could actively hunt down a fish, they don't possess the tools for that.. I've got a few tiny fish with a cleanershrimp and no problems..

I agree, won't be the cleaner shrimp. Does your shrimp looks like the one in the pic? If completely red, then it's a fire shrimp. I doubt that he or even a boxing shrimp will kill two clowns in one night. Maybe there's another culprit? Was the clowns sick perhaps?

Cleaner shrimps are the vultures or hyenas of your tank. Not hunters
