    Hi all

I have a red moss in my tank it has not taken over but its on a lot of the rock that have no "corals" on.

My system is 14 months old and very mature.

Ok its not Cyno so please lets not go there.

I am bad at testing water but i do 10% water changes once a week with either NSW or redsea coral pro and RO a water change is 250lts .

this moss can be see on my frag plugs and will some times not all the time grow on the sps (pink birds nests) and "smother" it.

it is soft to the touch can be removed from flat areas with a blade but grows back.

I see that there was a post a while back where Lanzo mentioned it but nothing was discussed.

    Help it looks shit

Could be Red Cottonwool of Doom. Can be quite a menace, but usually burns itself out after a few months. Brush it off manually with a tootbrush and siphon out as much as you can. Don't dose iodine, it seems to like it.

I see my star is also feeding on this as well as the crabs and there are white spots now

    Local turbos eat that stuff.

Calcium chloride will sort out your calcium levels in no time.

this is of concern, you biological filtration is not coping with the bioload.
Ammonia is toxic to fish, keep an eye on this...

Check out rockpools basically anywhere at low tide. Look in cracks and under rocks. Nerita albicilla are found in the same habitat and also eat a good amount of algae (though they tend to wander out of the tank if you don't have a cover).
