red algea

    [​IMG]Theres this red algea growing on sand and its starting on rocks will it go away or what should I do.tank is about 15 weeks old:blush:

    yip its definately Cyano. Belinda has given u some good threads to go through.

    Cyano is brought about due to any number of reasons...some being, lack of flow allowing the build up of detritus in areas of the tank, fluctuations in parameters is a major if not the biggest cause for cyano blooms.

    Best is to siphon it off as blowing it off the rocks or sand and letting it settle somewhere else just means it will spead there as well. Siphoning it out is not going to solve your problem though, you need to find the cause and fix that. Being 15 weeks running though your tank is still young and will go through stages like this as it is still maturing and getting settled, so not to stress too much.
