red algae?

    hi

    iv got these red marks on some of my live rock. what is it? what do i do with it? my tank is currently cycling.

    Looks like coraline algae leave it be. Its the good stuff. :tt2:

    max the pic aint so clear, its much more red compared to the rock on the right which i think is coraline.

    You can feel it then, if it feels like velvet or fluffy its not coraline. Test with your finger between the two.

    It does look like coraline, but as Max said if its fluffy its more than likely a nuisance algae or cyano.

    Remember coraline comes in many different colours - pink, purple, red, green, white... :)

    It doesn't feel like the coraline on the other rock.
    what should i do?

    What does it feel like? Coralline algae will feel hard a chalky if you scrape it with your fingers

    it could be some macro algea (sea wead) if it is cano it is there because if nitrate levels. its part of the cycle. you may still get some long hair algea too.
