Hi There Reefers and Marine maniacs....

Wow, what a find (refering to MASA), I have read and learned a huge volume of valuble information so far and i will continue study the many MASA posts to learn further.

I am hoping to get started in this mental hobby by years end and look forward to sharing my journey with you all. :1:

I am planning a large volume tank , around 500L -600 L dislpay volume. Not sure what volume sump I should use. My ideal would be on a 90cm high display stand, Tank: 160cm L X 55 cm D X 75cm H. ( getting a quote this week on this custom build )...... Not brave enough to go DIY.

I will definately be asking advise on equipment before I rush out and spend the G's

    hello Luke

    Welcome

Just a note, stand of 90, plus tank of 75, gives you 165.
I'm 1.8m tall, and my tank rim is at 1.55m, and that is my arm pit. So I do not need steps.

Just something to keep in mind.

But a tank, especially in area where you stand or walk pass the tank, that is higher is awesome. Just little bit difficult to work on.

    Sump, as big as possible.

Hi Riaan.... Thanks for that advise. I have given it some thought. The tank will be in the dinning area and will mostly be viewed in passing and during dinner parties ect.... ( or me just sitting there staring , dinner for one haha. ) I cant wait. I have some neat little steps already which fold into almost nothing...

Is there anyone that lives in the South of Johannesburg. Im in Glenvista. I would really appreciate some help if and when I need. I want to do things properly from the start. Just been reading the New member Allie thread.... LFS can be utterly useless. I was in one ( no names mentioned ) on Saturday and overheard a customer asking questions on getting started with a marine tank ect. seemed like the LFS guy struggled to answer most of the questions.
