    hi all,

I recently was gifted by the wife an Aquaria AMW37 tank and am truly excited to begin an adventure again.. Sadly my last setup had to be sold with the arrival of my first born. So it has been a while and alot of the equipment has improved.

Made it a priority to read all the beginners sticky threads to acclimatise myself again to this great hobby.

My tank has been cycling for 3weeks so far and so far so good.. added a substrate(not sure what it is) that i got from Aquaria and a few pieces of liverock.. Been dosing with Aquaria bacteria and added a vial of Biodigestto keep things moving.

    Will post pics asap.

Thanks again for a great forum and the abundance of valuable information..

    :yeahdude:

@ravi, you have some interesting "fluff"going on that rocks... :)
If that white "box" is your magnet, you might want to reconsider your rock placement to be far enough so you can move that past without disturbing anything... Or get a nano magnet cleaner!

Thanks gesiggie.. Didn't know there is a nano cleaner available.. Also gonna get two more pieces of rock so will re-arrange and keep in mind the glass cleaning.. Having some high temp issues, the unit has a built in fan that's activated with the lights so it has no effect(imho).. And there's hardly any room for another fan. Gonna shop around for a small enough 220v fan eg. Computer cooling fan..

Tested my nitrite and its 0.0mg/lt, salinity is 1,024 and that's great.. Only the temp issue now.. Gonna take a sample to the LFS for thorough testing..

Wanna get a cleaner shrimp but worried about the water temp being too high for it..
Any help will be greatly appreciated...

I lost 2 shrimps due to temperature. You can leave open your feeding hatch that helps and then the fans. You get nice small ones

Heat seems to be a general problem with closed lid nano's.
There seems to be no neat workable solution to this general problem at the moment.
Had same issue on mine (JBJ 24G)
I kept my feeder lid open, and placed a fan in the opening... Helped with temp, but evaporation shot sky high... So I ditched that Idea, and just put a normal pedestal fan on blowing in the general direction of the tank...

You can also consider placing the tank in an area where there is a draft of fresh air? I know this may not be a practical solution to most, but worth a thought..

For a mag cleaner, I can seriously recommend the Vertex duplex or the smaller simplex. Much better and longer lasting then the two little fishies nano mag

    Nice tank btw

Thanks for the responses.. I saw a neat little fan (at one of the sponsors-eurospirit) that mounts on the outside glass and has a nozzle that sits over the glass onto the water surface for R300... Just waiting for payday to try it out..

I also left my refugium and feed hatches open..

anyone put a LED setup under the hood
    into one of these nanos???

LEDs would be to close to water surface. Remember that your refugium will need that light so cant actually keep that open. I removed my lid and placed a led unit over it. Got to say its a huge difference. Thats a lot of money small pc fans are R50 or maybe someone removed their Boyu hood. Those fans in that hood will be perfect.
