Some weeks I really want to throw this tank into a massive bin! This week, I snapped my conductivity probe R2k+, my bubble master 5000 pump didn't start up and is gone R3k, I have been through a bunch of pumps to feed my reactor all saying silent but then again you get what you pay for tunze (@George) are the best!

I had cloudy water because of rowaphos, for a week.
I was a tool and miss read the conductivity value on my auto water change, dropped the salinity and lost my fav SPS @Adee remember to keep me that frag!

Yet as the lights went off today into sun set, I fed my fish my blue throat came to me and I rubbed his tummy. Makes me suck it all up and move on to another week!

Sigh some times u want to quit!

    yip, things happen.

But other hobbies are the same, take radio controlled planes and helicopters. One hard landing or slight crash and you need to buy a lot of little spares.

You need to have a lot of perseverance in this hobby, not only patience. Setbacks will come, together, alone, but you will have them. But when somebody see your system and gives you nice comments, it just makes it sooooo much worthwhile. Even more if the comments comes from another reefer.

Yes...I feel like that sometimes, but from a totally different angle...:(...This is an expensive hobby and not everyone can afford it...:(...thank heavens I bought a small Tank, when I knew nothing.....I now find myself being more and more despondent as I've realized I probably won't be able to upgrade...now many will think "upgrade" as in a Dream Tank and EVERYBODY wishes for that...:p...but that's not my reason for wanting to upgrade...don't get me wrong...I would sooooo LOVE a "Dream Tank...:)...I've only got 3 Fishy's and a Shrimp, but I feel they need more swimming space..but can't afford the new lay-out...then I struggle with heat, but can't afford a Chiller/EVA...have 2x 18watt tubes, really useless...but can't afford LED's...blah blah blah...don't have back-up power...but can't afford the "equipment" needed...I just feel that somehow my Fishy's just DESERVE better than what I can offer them...and THAT makes me want to quit...:(

i have many hobbies/ sports i do, marine fishkeeping, surfing, fishing, diving etc etc.. some more labour intensive as others... all expensive if something goes wong.. and exhausting at times when they do.

all i can say is try simplify! i have gone to more basics with my tank, it may not be the most stunning but it keeps my itch at bay and my kids happy that nemo is there to be seen..

i have also decided that after doing marines for so lomh (20+ years) that i am not making it a priority anymore.. and that i will do the basics as in waterchanges but the tank running needs to fit more in with my lifestyle..

i am aiming to travel alot in the next few months so i want something that doesnt need constant attention...

i think every reefer has felt the way you do.. id say the guys on here are a little more thickskinned than most as we seem to persevere through a little more with it.

I feel your pain - sold everything a while back. Swore I'd never do it again. Now busy buying/ building a new one. So for anyone thinking of quitting...... Shut the tank down but put your kit in storage for a while lol.

Dude do you wanna know what it was.......

I removed the RowaPhos - two hours later water was so crystal clear I could see my triggers bum :)

I have no idea what happened there... but removed the rowaphos and bingo.

I am using AquaVito stuff right now while I am awaiting a replacement bubble master pump for my reactor.

Parameters are looking good and corals are looking completely different, I thought the colors were good before but even better now :)

Glad to hear it is all sorted. Love it when its something simple. Now you have crystal clear water to view those awesome triggers when they arrive.

They say on the Rowaphos bottle not to rinse it. What a complete load of BS. Always run the stuff through a few liters of water outside the tank till its clear

Oh I did that - i did the research on the web. I put it in a sock and ran it for about 10mins under the tap. Didn't work.

I think its a great product it reduced the P04 as it said it would. I think in my case it reacted with something.

    Oh crap ok.

I dont rate it to be honest. It is sooooo fine that you always have some of it getting into the tank. Gonna try something else next time
