The bacteria eats the organic compounds the skimmer would normally skim out.

As HenHugo says, its perfectly normal for your skimmer to skimm "less or lower". You'll find that the closer you get to your next dose the skimmer picks up again. I have been dosing Special Blend for about 5 months now and my tank has never looked better. I'm dosing the maintenance dosage every second week. I always say my tank gets that "tired look" just before its time to dose. The difference on my tank the day after dosing is phenominal.

Does anyone have experience with this bacteria source? I've been using it for 6month and haven't had a bad or very good experience with it, I was thinking of moving to Special blend

Well it contains EM's bacillus bacteria. It comes in as a dry powder and then gets mixed with water a carbon source (in this case molasses). The bacteria then grows and gets bottled up with a +- 3 to 6 month shelf life. It basically contains one, maybe 2 strains of bacteria.

No need to worry, since I started using special blend my skimmer hardly does anything.
