    Hi Guys,

    @MistaOrange, @Charl_Stanhope, @459b

Anyone in or arround the Milnerton area that has an existing tank that can take live stock as an emergency?

My 3y/o decided to empty every single bottle of food and chemicals I have into my sump when I wasn't at home.

    Live Stock:
    2 x Nemos
    1 x Brittle Star
    2 x Camel Shrimp
    1 x Elegance Coral
    2 x Turbos
    5 x Nassarius
    and a couple of hermits

Need someone to take them for a month or so, whilst I clean up and restart my tank. The fish has been in contaminated water for just over an hour now, they are all captured and ready to go. Where to, is the problem.

Chemicals introduced (not one single bottle was less than 3/4 full)
    Seachem Fusion 1 & 2
    Seachem Clarity
    Seachem Florish Excel
    Seachem Iron
    Reef Builder
    pH Builder
Algaway (poison - I'm very worried about this)
    Nutrafin Waiste Control
    Purple Up
And every single bit of fish food I had (FW and SW)

Given the nature of the chemicals, I'd prefer a quarantine tank, rather than just introducing the fish into an existing system. It's safer for both parties this way.

Sorry to hear bud. Please don't shout at the 3year old. Shout at dad for leaving the bottles where he could get hold of them. thankfully he did not try and drink any of the chemicals.

    Hi Guys,

Busy testing the parameters (should have been the first port of call!!!!! doh). Snoek is fearing for his corals (and rightfully so) - I actually was on my way back from from Snoek when the wife called... Thats also why I'd rather opt for a quarantine rather than an existing tank to house them. My DT is now already drained and all the rock removed in order to ensure that I was able to get all the LS. The shrimp litterally crawled right under the very last rock I removed.

At this stage, I don't have enough salt to mix another batch to fill my 500L system. Don't have the RO either. Given the amounts of clarity that went in, the gravel would need to be cleaned as well before I restart.

The LS is in a bucket with a airstone and I'm slowly dripping in clean salt water and removing the old water. THUS FAR nothing has died (to my amazement) - I'm just not sure how long they would last going on like this, the clowns are starting to look weak...

Do you have enough water to fill your stump? Empty it and use it as a temp tank. Add heater, flow pump, air stone until someone can maybe get you a tank or i can get the tl550 to you if you want it.

I can make about 200L of RO for you tomorrow.

Do you have containers to take it back to your place?

    pH: 8.5
KH: over 14 (Red Sea test kit, 1mg of regent and no colour change)
Amonia: 5mg/l (and PLENTY of food still waiting to decompose in the sump)
    Nitrite: 0mg/l
    Nitrate: 0mg/l

Not even going to bother seting Mg and Ca - it will be off the scale (PO4 shouldn't cause a issue either). The KH is most likely caused by the pH Buffer or Reef Builder I suppose? Amonia is a problem too.

I think right now I just need to get the LS into some 'clean' salt water... Then yes, I suppose drain and clean the sump and get the skimmers running ASAP. I should have enough salt to re-fill the sump, I just don't know how long I'm going to have to wait for RO/DI though. Perhaps tap water would have been a temporory solution, but I don't have de-clorinator!!! The bottle was emptied lmao

Everything is off, the DT is drained, and the LS is in a small container currently with an airstone.

I'm busy mixing salt and heating up, about to go and clean the sump for a temporary housing for the LS. The sump is full of food and foam and all sorts of nasty stuff

    @Snoek - Thnx bud.
@irie ivan - I did. He's out at table mountain with a broken car. He said he'll call me back when he's at the warehouse, but dunno when that's going to be. Did loads of business with him, 90% of my FW tank comes from him... hehe

I have a heater in my temporary bucket now as well, but I'm surprised. Everyone looks ok, and are rather active. The clowns also got a bit of life again now after the temp went back up a bit. Still plan to get them out of there ASAP - as soon as the new water is ready. Just needs to be heated up now.

Old water is at 1.025, new water at 1.024. If I drip them (I'll have to, considering there's shrimp and a star), would that 0.001 make a huge difference?

Hardly. Getting them out of poisoned water a bigger priority.

You can bring the ls to me, twenty minute drive, was preparing drum to cook rock and do water change tonight.
If you have a hang on filter or spare airpump, will help as can run some mature biocubes in container to sort filtration

Please let's not turn this into a pissing contest again - but I love those shrimp, they are my pride and joy. I *really* would like for them all to go.

Liaquat is at his shop now - talking to him now, stock will more than likely go there now.

The florish excel in the water will apparently stop amonia killing the fish, but it's terribly bad for the corals.

Ok so fish to be seperated from corals and hermits for future reference - they deal with shock differently.

All LS is off to Liaquat for safe keeping.

Many thanks for the assistance guys, really appreciate it. I know I'm not the easiest to talk sense into, but I'm glad to know that we all stand together when the chemicals hit the water!

    Appreciate it!
