Hi has anyone had sucess with Pyjama Cardinals . I read that they are nocternal and should be kept in groups of 5 or more. I laso read that they dont accept flake food.
    Some feedback would be great.

I have one, a very shy fish and seems to spend a lot of time behind the rocks, he does come out occasionally though. I have never tried to feed him flake food but he eats everything else.

I only have one but he is not shy at all. He is actually a bit of a show off. I don't often put flakes in my tank but when I do he does eat some.

I've kept them before in a group of five or six with no problems. They seem to mind their own business

Based on your location and the location of my LFS ..... i am pretty sure i know where you got the monti from...........

Would love to pop round and have a look at your tank, maybe even swop a frag or two

IMO cardinals are amongst the most dull of marine fish around, think you made a great choice going for the monti !!!

    Amen to that ;)

And they don't like very "active" tanks, so Tangs, Butterflys, Angels, Wrasses and the likes are not good tank mates

They are quite ugly , almost ugly enough to buy. My other tank mates may bother them as they are very active. Also worried about the coral banded shrimp , it tries to eat all the fish including the regal - but I think it is retarded – instead of using its big claws it comes charging at them with its small claws and the big claws just flapping around. The trouble is the fish see the flapping claws and get out the way.
