Does anyone use non return valves on their return lines? It's an alternative to having a siphon break.

Not sure how reliable these are and don't want to flood my house.

I wouldn't rely on one of these, especially in a Marine Tank Environment, there are too many worms that can produce very solid Calcium tubes that could hinder the correct closure of a return valve mechanism.

You probably right. Not the best idea.

I've got one on my Koi pond and it only really works for a while , then not 100% effective anymore.

I dont like the fact that they add extra back pressure on the return pump. So just too many negative effects with non return valves. A syphon break is much easier and actually safer in my opinion.

I Used 2x32mm Ball Type Non Returns on my Previous Setup. One for each Return Pump. The reason I went for the Ball Type is theres No Back Pressure from them. But they are Shit Expensive.. Paid R410 each. Work great, Just like most equipment in this hobby it requires a clean every now and then.

Thanks for the valuable comments guys. I need to get one to play around with now.
