Hey colin, it depends how big is your tank. If you have a massive tank then you could probably have the 2 together. Generally tangs are aggro to each other but if you keep different genus together then you can get away with it.

Now the yellow and purple are both Zebrasomas and the purple is an aggressive fish. I would not keep them together unless you have a very large DT. It has been done in smaller tanks but its hot and miss.. So basically the answer is no, but it is possible (hit and miss)

I agree. introduce at the same time. Tangs are notorious for bullying anything that has the same basic shape or color, eg, tang/butterfly/angel, etc.

I actually wouldnt put a tang in such a small tank. Think you mean your yellow is 6cm lol :) .. they grow big so I would just leave the yellow and then get small fish :)

Your tank is to small for tangs
Rather look at a small angel ( centrapyge )

@Yuri, which dwarf angels would you recommend that will probably not eat corals and are easy to care for? A coral beauty is one of them :) .. Colin how about something like this coral beauty

So in everyones honest opinion, what size tank would you need to have - 1 sailfin, 1 scopas, 1 yellow, 1 purple and 1 achilles ?

Also, there is a lot of opinion differs here.. I have heard you add additional tangs (eg Zebrazoma) after lights out, so not to completely drw attention to new inmate.. also that if you move your scaping around, it less of a problem as you confuse the other tangs etc..

Is there any thruth to this?

you see, the problem is that tangs need room to swim and they get pretty big. From the list you gave, I would put those in a 6ft min. In my 480L 5ft DT I am only going to put 4 tangs max and all of them are small. With tangs its better to have a long tank opposed to a cube :)

but thats not a good mix with so many zebrasomas and an acanthurus. I would rather go with 1 zebra, 1 naso, 1 acanthurus and 1 regal. Thats what Im doing to minimize aggression

I would say a 600L or larger tank should suffice for a year or two if they are small to medium in size.

In my 6ft i have 7 yellows and two purples for three years now and in my 5000L tank i have 15 yellows, 11 purples, 1 black, 2 scopas, 1 hyrbrid scopa, large naso and two salfin tangs and loads off other fish and they all doing really well.

if I add a new tang I would feed then put the lights off and then add the tang in to the tank.

Or you good use a home made fish trap to allow the other fishes to know that its there but not allow them to fight and then release the tang when they are all Settled.

dwarf angels are cool but sometimes peck on corals.
