In the past I have always put only a daylight light tube in my tank. A month ago I added a Blue Marine tube in my tank and you won't believe the difference. It's clearer, looks stunning and at night I can switch off my daylight and still see my fish.

Just came from a petshop now. I see they sell purple flourescent tubes.

What I want to know, are there anyone that has a pic of a tank with a purple light inside? I would like to see the difference.

Also, what is the use of a purple light?

I would think only for your viewing pleasure.....freshwater plants like a buld thats about 5k-7k, this is a white light moving over towards the red side of the spectrum....sometimes appearing a little yellow.

If you dont have plants in the tank then I guess it makes no difference what type of light you use, Im sure the fish dont care much.
