Well on Monday I'll be adding a yellow tang to my system....and I just have the feeling that there is going to be a small war in my tank.I'll just leave the tank with lights out for the day and see how it goes.

I had a similar problem with my YT. The pruple nipped him for a while but now they tolerate one another. I dont know how big your system is and how many hiding places you have but that plays an important role. You may have to split feeding stations for a while to allow the guys to eat. If you feed on the left side of your tank feed on both sides. If you put a nori clip on the left side, put one on the right side so there's no fighting for food

How big is your tank? Do you have any other tangs in your tank?

You will have less fighting if your "new" tang is a bit bigger than your old one. If you can, try to rearrange some of your aqua scaping as to confuse the fish. Then there will be no terretory fights.

Yip agree with everything Tony has said, also had a few issues with my Yellow and Purple Tang when they first met each other...but it only lasted a couple of days and they soon settled down. Again tank size, hiding places and feeding play a big role in them settling.

    Good luck.

Hmm...ya, I would say your tank is a bit on the small side for one tang, let alone two...I doubt they are going to settle down with each other as in that size environment they dont have the space to setup their own little territories and keep away from one another when and if need be.

I don't think you have enough space for two tangs one will kill the other. My be if you sump the purple and change the rock work and add bouth tangs together you will have a better chance.

Do you mean my tank is to small to host two tangs....or to add one at a later stage?because my purple is still small and the yellow is also small.

I use to have 3 tangs in my system with no problem, but I am going to go biger at a later stage

I think 2 zebrasoma tangs in a 250L tank will fight a lot

My first tank was a 220L sistem and had a regal in. The regal killed a salifin Then a YT and again a sailfin. I changed the rock work sump the regal everything. Ended up getting a bigger tank and well add all my tangs that I wanted at same time no problems.

    Good luck

So I added the Yellow tang a few days back into my tank...switched the lights off for one day and back on the next day.My purple did chase the yellow around the tank for a day or two but they are now feeding from the same nori clip.So everything went well at the end of the day.

If they can ram a hundred yellow tangs into a phonebooth tank then 2 tangs in a small tank should be fine by their logic :p

But then again they dont know what they are doing!

Good to hear. My YT still get's chased every now and then but he's doing fine and nice and fat. It's the longest I've managed to keep a yellow tang.
