Just need to know can purigen be used in a stocking or is "The bag" more fine?

reason i'm asking is because many people online have complained about it going through most membranes.

anyone using it in a stocking?

I think a stocking should be fine. The grains are basically all the same size so you shouldn't end up with any coming out.

What size are you buying? I buy the 100ml ones which treat 400 litres and it comes already in "The Bag".

need quite a bit for my 680lt and 200lt tanks so the 500ml works out much more reasonable.
gonna start using chemi-pure elite on my 40lt nano.

If you want no Nitrates the best option would be to ensure that you skim agressivly, have a good DSB and enough LR. i am just using the Purigen as an add on

If you have a 580lt tank why not buy 2 of the 100ml one's that already come in a bag then alternate the regeneration of them.

You can also use those Pool Gobbler replacements stockings. They're about R38-00 for five from builders and you can use it for all your carbon and phos remover etc.

You regenerate the sponge when it turns a light brown. Don't leave it to get darker. Just use plain jik and not the super thick or perfumed ones.

24 Hours Riyaad. Then you soak it in water with dechlorinator and then rinse it under fresh water till there is not smell. Also remove it from the stocking as bleach can corrode the fabric and give you a tank full of white beads

    Hi Guys,

Just to add to Tony. Its 50% water 50% bleach that you soak the beads for 24hours. Then rinse well. Then soak for a further 8 hours with new water and a declorinator (one without a slime coat...so Aqua safe is no good) Use Seachem SAFE or PRIME. There is also one other one that I cant remember right now...think its Chlorguard and also Kent has one that can be used.:wave2:
