Actually it wasn't as high as what I expected......roughly twice as much as a wild caught, depending on the LFS. I've actually seen some wild caught priced the same as I paid for a captive bred.

I have always been more than willing to pay 3 or 4 times more for captive bred.

Very nice Brenda, I've never yet owned a mandarin, too scared I won't be able to feed the little guy.

Are you going to be breeding the Banggai's?

I don't know. I can't imagine me not trying to raise them if I find babies, or finding someone to raise them. I'm hoping its not for a while, these guys are still pretty small.

I had a breeding pair about 4 years ago. The female prolapsed and the male ended up dropping the eggs. I ended up getting rid of the pair after that and concentrated on seahorses. Here is a video of the pair with the female prolapsed:

I'm lost, I've never heard that expression before, in the video clip it looks like she is chasing him around a bit, did that cause him to drop the eggs?

No, look underneath the fish, the insides are coming out. She prolapsed (organs dropped) with the release of the eggs. I don't know why he dropped the eggs, it could have been anything, and likely not related to the female's problem.

They start spawning at the age of 4 to 5 months. That should give a break for the next 4 to 6 weeks. LOL
What I wrote is true, but very funny when you think you will have lots of time until they start.

    Thank you!

The seahorses are doing well, popping out babies for the last 3 days.
