I'm looking for a pump that I can use as a Auto topup pump.

    BUT

It must fit into our white drums. I do not want to fill another container. Just want to have the drum, pull the pump out and move it over to another full drum.

Like those in use by caravans. But they are not brushless motors. And I'm not sure if they are reefsafe. Or are they?

Use the same setup that fly* has on his nano. Its a dry pump stocked by IM, so all you need is take out the RO tubing out of the empty drum and insert in the new one.

IIRC the are ~800 bucks for the pump :(

    EDIT* Like so

If you can find it cheaper elsewhere, let me know. I'm looking for the exact same setup, but at 800 bucks, its too much for me

puritech sells a pump for R350, not sure but I think it is the same type of RO dry pump fly uses i.e. external pump.

If you are going for an external pump then why not use the little haileas. R270 for the 1000LPH and R200 for the 480LPH.

    I used these...

12v DC submersible pumps, they have a fantastic head height and fit perfectly into our white drums, they are quite noisy though. However, I have been through 2 of them, they seem to only last maybe 3 months, I think it may be because of the constant switching on and off, mostly because my float switch is very sensitive and switches the pump on and off with just the smallest of waves, sometimes it is like a ticking clock it switches on and off so much. Cheap though, about R100 and I'm sure if the correct float switch was used ore perhaps put on a timer to only come on 2 or 3 times a day then it should last quite a while. It does have a stainless steel shaft and I did notice some very slight rust, but not something I was concerned about.

Yip Viper, that is the standard caravan pump. But 12V. Need relays etc from my SAGA top up to run this correctly. Me and electronics.... yikes, anything else I can DIY

Marius, can the Hailea fit into the drum opening?

I think you have to prime the hailea if used as external pump because the impellors does not make an airtight seal so it cant create a vacuum to start and pull the water into the pipe. The RO type pumps does not use impellors as far as i know so they can create a vacuum and does not need priming.

ebay, but any caravan shop should stock them. They are pretty standard pumps used in caravans and motorhomes.
