As per thread under Pumps and Waterflow:

As most of the older members know, when I restarted my tank some year or 2 ago, I omitted the Closed Loop System I originally had in the tank due to visibility issues etc, etc.

The 2 Pumps I had running the Closed Loop System was the Hailea 6550's. And as all of you know, they are electricity Consumers of note. I have, recently, Re-installed the CLS, and want to get 2 different types of pumps (technology allows me to aim for lower wattage) to run my CLS.

I am looking for 2 x pumps, low wattage, but good, strong output, must take a 25mm inlet at least, and must be able to run outside the water.
Any ideas based on experience and/or qualifications in this field would be appreciated.

Any sponsors, please pm/ phone/sms/e-mail me prices please. Also please include delivery charges to RBay.

Basically the same output as the HAILEA HX-6550

      • Power : 200w
      • Max Flow: 5580 L/h
      • Max Jet: 4m
      • Dimensions: 154 x 120 x 170mm

But With lower wattage as I do not want to blow the sand bed all over the place. Only to keep detritus from settling behind the rock work

Red Devil DC5500 probably your perfect choice and priced right.

We have stock and we will ship for R105

The big bonus is they controllable so you have the option to wind them down with 6 settings

Andre, I just read the specs on the net, but nowhere can I find any details of the pumps being used externally. Can it be used external or not?

    Reeflow.
    Barracuda, or Snapper.
But I could not find info on either Dorry Pets or Jungle Aquatics online shops on them. Not listed anymore. So not sure if they are still available or not.
