    Hi Guys and gals,

I need some advise please. I have my monster calcium / multi reactor outside (about 2m ) away from the main sump under the tank. The reactor type is a Reef Oct 5000 - for 3000l tank. The input to this reactor is a normal RO pipe.

After quite a bit of research to learn about reactors I made a decision to use a powerful pump (3000l/h) to feed the calcium reactor AS WELL as the other three chambers it has for one to run whatever media you require.

These other chambers also use a RO input to the chambers.

The problem I have, I want to use a high flow pump to keep flow consistent (or so I read that's the way to approach this), now when I restrict the pump it goes from silent to a screaming prostitute.

I designed this tank around silence, those of you that have seen my tank have all commented on how silent it is. It's also in my lounge so noise is an issue for me.

Right now I have this HUMMMMMMMMMM from the poor pump screaming.....

    How do I restrict it:

I bought one of those L or 90 degree connectors that screws into the pump housing and then lets you connect RO tubing directly to the pump.

I know that restricting pump is going to put some pressure on the impellor etc. My questions are:

    1. Am I over killing the flow to the reactor?
    2. How would one do this to allow enough flow but at the same time not have the pump scream like a prozzzy.

I thought of allowing the pump to pump normally with a 22m pipe until its outside then restrict it there. But isn't that just restricting it later and the pump will still struggle?

I would appreciate some ideas or suggestions.

you got a couple of pics of the inside of the pump as in shaft and impellor?

Peristilitic pump works the best to feed calcium reacters.

This pump is a sealed unit, but has a normal impellor like a halea pump from what I can see from the outside.

It's to slow in a big reactor and struggles. In addition I have to run additional chambers that require higher flow.

I was under the impression that peristaltic pumps don't like to be run 365/24+7

Check ebay, you will find it much cheaper than buying direct.

What if you run the pump externally and then follow your restrictions. That way the noise will be restricted to outside instead of being confined to your sump area.
