Guys? Does anyone know whether male anthias can revert to being female once they resemble the physical characteristics of a male. I have a dominant male undergoing change and was curious whether the other male-ish looking ones in the harem will submit and revert to being female again or will they get a beating from the dominant male all the time?

Midas, what will happen in a group of Anthias is that one male will become "dominant".

Your other males will not undergo the full transition, until such time as the dominant male dies, then only one will change.

If you throw two "dominant" males into a normal home sized tank, fighting will ensue.

In short, no.

Same as swords and rabbits by the way.

Swords as in the little freshwater livebearers.

And rabbits are also able to change their sex. Guess you learn something new everyday hey.

Aaahhh....

So my niece's bunnies aren't gay as we suspected....

Midas, as far as I understand, they can only change from undetermined into male or femal, but once changed, that's how they stay.
