    Hi Guys

I seem to have a major aglea bloom. Slimmy brown stuff + reddish/purple jelly.

I did a 50ltr water change on the weekened, and it dosnt seem to be improving. What would be the best way to clear it .

That's cyano, do you have alot of flow in the tank.

    What are your parameters?

Mine went away after I fixed the flow, and left the lights of for 3 days, and I scopped it up from the sand.

You might try rolling the pieces up and slowly removing it.

That is a diatom algae bloom (not really algae.) It is very common in new tanks, & usually decreases over a couple weeks until it vanishes completely.
It can also occur in tans that is overstocked / overfed as the diatoms feeds on dissolved organic compounds.

Can you perhaps explain to us what skimmer you have... What type of filtration you use & what lighting you are using & how many hours.
    Tank volume
    Feeding
    list of fish etc.

You also seem to have some cyano on the sunstrate... (the pink/purple slimy algae stuff).

Usually found in new tanks with insufficient bacterial polulations & too little flow.

    cyno

if all else fails try this product... I needed to get rid of cyno on my star polyps and it cleaned the whole tank.. Red cyno rx. Just follow instructions to the tee.

Jungle aquatics... Was worried after reading what chemi clean can do to a tank but with this stuff no ill sides 2 weeks down the line no cyno at all.. Just remove all phosphate removing media and disconnect skimmer for the allocated time.

There really is no need for chemicals to get rid of the cyano, with good husbandry it should disappear in a while, just wait it out

Please use ONLY as a last resort! It is an antibacterial product which could have massive negative effects on a new tank!

I agree with u guys , I used it as a last resort as it was killing off my polyps if that was not the case I would not have used it.

As for the smell... If your tank has a "rotten" smell, its usually because something is rotting...
make sure you dont have any dead livestock lying somewhere behind a rock or in the sump.
It could also indicate that you have insufficient biological filtration capacity, & could perhaps add a bacterial supplement & cleanup crew etc to assist in breaking down any dead tissue > Ammonia > nitrites > nitrates...

Having an abundance of organic / decomposing things in your tank would definitely be a cause of diatoms & cyano.

Just a side note,50lt changes every 2 weeks on that tank size is hardly anything.
