    Hey Guys

I just want to check on the going price for inverters.
Have a guy from one of those companies that have a second hand one for me.
R1500 for a 1000 Watt inverter and battery..
    Is that good, bad, average?

I honestly don't know. They guys works for a Power supply company. I used him to fix our set-up in the lab... Got chatting he has a FW tank with a unit on it...
So I said he can get me one from their factory... Guess he know's what he is doing..
Will even help me hook it all up :)
I might just kill my self with these kind of things..

Lappies thats a good price for a 1000w + battery
just make sure it work before you take it also if you can check the 4 way rectifier for hot spots on it's terminal if it looks like it got hot then you know it have work long hours and is not relabel any more.

Make sure it has a relay and switches on automatically in the event of a power cut. I know that inverters with this function (essential in my opinion) are a bit more expensive. Also maybe make sure of the brand and whether spares and servicing are possible??? I am also researching about inverters at the moment. Perhaps for so cheap the quality of the battery and inverter could be a little sub par (only speculating).

Regarding the pure sine/modified sine argument. I would be more than happy to run modified sine on my pumps. Pure sine is waaaaaay more expensive. If used all the time modified sine could maybe damage your pumps, but the power cuts should hopefully be infrequent. The iverter is just to save your reef on the odd occasion (Eskom willing). You could probably buy a new return pump for the difference between a pure and modified sine inverter

Some pumps just don't even work let alone run on modified sine.
