As the December holidays are upon us I was thinking about what i would've done if my tank was up and running fully stocked. Just some thoughts of what to do listed below. Please add ideas and/or experiences about what to do and what not to do...
1)Don't add anything new to your tank just before you leave. I would say this goes for livestock and some pieces of hardware.
2)Ask a fellow reefer to look after your tank and not your neighbor/friend as they will overfeed, etc and won't know what to do in a emergency.
3)Make sure your auto top up has enough ro in it.
    4)Buy a auto feeder.
5)Make sure your backup power supply is in good working order.
6)Empty your skimmer cup before you leave.

That's all I can think of, please add to this thread.

Do a good cleaning of the tank, syphoning, water change, clean the lights and so on... prior to leave
AND most important... enjoy your vacation!!!

You guys have pretty much covered everything I could think of:)

I would also clean the syphon break in my return pump so that the sump doesnt overflow if a power break occurs.

I would also check that all the pipe fitting are nice and tight as a lot of reefers dont always glue their pipes together. You wouldn't want water squirting everywhere while you're away:p

I would DRILL the skimmer CUP to empty into a 25 litre drum. An "in sump" skimmer overflowing with skimmate is a KILLER!!!!!

    BELIEVE ME mate!
