My female mandarin has been bloating up recently which leads me to believe that it is pregnant. I do have a male in the tank and i have seen them do this kind of thing on a couple of occasions [IMG]

Is there any advice anyone can give me on how i can proceed with regards to them? Can i leave them in the tank and are they likely to spawn with other fish present in the tank? I do have some semi aggressive fish around such as a couple of damsels, coral beauty and a blue throat trigger. None have actually ever bothered the mandarin besides the trigger which i have seen chasing the mandarin before and even once biting a piece of its tail when i just added it.

Keep an eye on them just before lights out that's when they should spawn. My pair spawn a lot and it happens just before my blue lights go out. They do there courtship dance/swim a few times and they shoot up to the surface and its over reel quick usually just see almost like a puff of smoke when they release the eggs and sperm. My clown fish normal have a feast then.

Have yours ever successfully spawned or do the clowns always get to the eggs? Will check up on them when lights go out to see if i notice anything.. thx :) Im also guessing that you have your lights on a time schedule? Would this increase the likelihood of spawning or would they spawn just as easliy without a time schedule do you think?

Clowns always eat there eggs. Not sure what lighting you have but my leds are only on blues for last hour of the day and slowly dims out that's when the throw off there eggs.
