Is there any way of knowing or signs or chance my cleaner wrasse could be pregnant.
I have to in my tank. The smaller one being the one I think is pregnant.
The to of them have been doing odd things for a awhile now, almost like a dance ritual type thing.
And now I've noticed the bulge I see the bigger one is sticking to the smaller one. _20160803_203750.JPG _20160803_203734.JPG

It could be, I had some a few years ago that spawned, they sort of rush to the water's surface side by side and spawn like that. Most wrasses start off as females with the dominant one turning male, so a good chance the smaller one will be the female if they get along.

    They do get along.
Like I said for a few days they'd been spinning and dancing around each other., and now the bigger one (male?) is by her side 24/7

So are we under the impression that I actually do have a pregnant wrasse.
    Not a disease.

Anything I should do or can do.
I've removed my filter sock just incase.
So the eggs could fall into the overflow chamber if anything happens.

the long pelargic stage and those eggs, if they hatch would surely become food for the other fishes.
    Pity about that.

Plus all your powerheads would be giant guillotines. Ouch.

    Yip here you.
But as we know some people find the odd cardinal in there sumps, so maybe just maybe one little bugger makes it to the sump.
    Who knows.
I take it this a rare thing to happen with a cleaner wrasse.
Not much info around on it.

Luckily for cardinals they "hatch" at a much bigger size. If you got a long spine urchin in your display they will even be able to survive in the main display in between a lot of other fish without becoming lunch.

But who knows, maybe you do find a baby cleaner wrasse in your sump one day. Just check that the skimmer pump intake would not suck them up.

Have a filter sponge between the overflow chamber and skimmer chamber.
So if it makes it there it will be safe.
