what are the advantages and disadvantages of either tank.
i know there is a large difference in the price of the livestock.
but just some help so i dont make the wronge decision when it comes to stocking my tank!

maybe a helpful link?
bin looking and couldn't find a discussion on this...

what you planning on keeping in the predator tank?also predator fish cause alot of nutrients in the water

i'm not sure really. just looking into the 2 dif setups.
no plans in place yet...
i dont know anything really about predator tanks.

your tank is a bit to small for a preditor tank
and you cant keep allot of fish ,like mekaeel said, they produce allot of waste and they need to eat allot of meaty food that can lead to bad water quality.

you will at least need to look at a 2m tank at the least to house predators.

look at likesfish's perdator tank he has a 3 meter tank and maybe had 10 fishes in it

thanx for the advice. looks like my tank is a wee bit to small at 250l.
haha shot boys.
so i'm going for a non-predator tank. what should i stick clear of?

a mandrin for the first year and also a nennie.
you can add a nennie after 6 months

sweet. looks like my tank is sorta halfway thru cycling??
my ammonia is low. 0.022 but nitrites high. somewhere around 0.1 to 0.2
i know this is normal but the tank is only a week old??
i used water from the guy i bought the tank from. around 80l, would this have helped kickstart the cycle?

sweet, happy to hear that :)
got to get hold of some RO water and drums to top off evaporation.
other than that, i am not touching my tank for a while!!
might put some of the hermits back in from geoffs tank when algea starts popping up? that a good idea?

yip, i thimk with your phos and n03 levels you will be getting some algae sooner than you think
