Last night, a good friend of mine's parents got held at gun point (he is a MASA member but I won't provide his name right away), they are in their mid 60's and the bas***s got in via breaking a burglar bar. Went to the old lady and insisted she switch off the house alarm and tied her up with cable ties, got the old man and tied him up and another youngster in the house too. They then proceeded to go room for room and emptied the entire house, down to the kettle, plates and even the food in the fridge. They demanded the keys to the front gate and drove their car in and just loaded everything, they even took the lock on the front gate...It makes me sick to my stomach that these people can be so ruthless, they are the kindest old people I know and go out of their way to help everyone and anyone no matter how much it inconvieniences them.

For such kind hearted people to be tortured like that is just mind blowing. They survived the ordeal, very fortunately...

Can we all spare a private moment for prayer for his parents and the good Lord to help stop this and thoughts going out to more specifically all the older generation who couldn't offer any defense and get put in these type of situations, tradgic senseless violence :(:(

Really sorry to hear this! I could only imagine what they went though.

I know this sounds bad, But I hope they suffer along the line for what they have done, the wheel turn!

Sorry to hear buddy - unfortunately with mx business I come across this as from 1994 - very very sad - they fortunate to be alive.... Why dont they get monitored by a response company and have an "ambush" code relay a silent alarm to them or to family members cell phones so that they some will be on their way with help in future

I'm glad they are ok physically. Mentally it will take a long time to recover from something like that! I can't imagine! I will keep your friend and his family in my thoughts and prayers.

By the way......60's is not old! ;)

60's isn'y old for sure, but elderly...
They have ADT but when the guys got in they demanded for her to switch the alarm off, when ADT called the SOB answered the phone saying all was OK and he was just looking after the place and accidentally set off the alarm, so ADT screwed up by not going out to check what was going on. Only after the guys left did they mannage to free themselves and sound the pannic alarm, at which point ADT and SAPS arrived within a very short time.

I will stop in on my way home this afternoon and share the love from MASA's members, thank you all thus far.

Totally different thing I'm talking about bud - they should have a seperate code that disarms the system but send a silent panic through to the control room and the response should not even bother phoning as it is very hard to have a false alarm

I hope for once that our justice system can trow the harder side of the law at these sick twisded individuals, but knowing the sytems we havem they will get away with it because no leads are made thus far - the criminals are basically getting away with it...

I know what you are talking about Chika, we had that system in place when we stayed in DBN - worked like a bomb. I will have a chat to them when I see them later today.

It is always sad to hear stories like this...
And unfortunately we've become so "used" to this kind of attacks that it doesn't shock us in they way it used to...:(

Please tell them that me and my family will think of them in our prayers.

I saw them on Friday and they were still a bit shaken up by the whole thing but have been OK since.

The people who got into the house were at least not forcefull in the sense of beating them, the only plus in the situation - the rest is just crazy. When I got there on Friday afternnon they were doing the tally up and it was somewhere in the order of R100K worth of stuff that was taken...
