I was wondering if you can use the pratly steel quick set inside your tank or only the original? Anyone use it before? Thanks

Ive recently glued my rocks together. Ive used the original pratley putty. I have used the quickset before and it stayed soft. The original putty will set in a few hours.
Sure it looks crap(the white of the putty) but after about a month you wont see it will get some algae and stuff growing on it.

You can use pratleys steel with no issues is has the same makeup as the other pratleys epoxy products.

Without seeing MSDS sheets I wont use it , this is just my common sense talkin....there has to be something different to its chemical makeup in order for it to be steel specific (sorry Trev ) ...or I could be completely wrong.

Its so cheap anyways , just buy the normal one

They use the exact same epoxy base as any epoxy, they put other non ferous material in it to give it extra strength and a metalic color but the epoxy is the same as any other. I have never liked using epoxy's in a reef tank as the catalyst uses amonia as a reactive agent to create heat but most poeple see no ill effects from this.

Hear you Trev. It's a derivative product , so base would be the same...my only concern would be the "additives". As I said I might be COMPLETELY wrong, I have mailed them for MSDS sheets anyways...just as a matter of interest

Sorry to hijack a bit here but I tried to use Pratleys Standard to fix my frag base to LR (underwater) and battled with it. Once I had mixed i and put it underwater it gave off a cloudy residue in the water. I then pressed it around the cement base of the frag but it seemed to come off on my finger instead of sticking to the base and LR. Is there a certain technique to using it effectively?

The best thing is to put the mixed pratley into the microwave for 10 seconds before using it. This makes it set in about 30 minutes.
