here's a few better quality brands

EDEN
hydor
Sicce
AquaClear
aquabee

Note, the list becomes compunded, into FEWER ACTUAL BRANDS.

eg.
MaxiJet, and NewJet from Aquarium Systems BOTH made by Eden , in Italy.
Tunze, made by at least 2 different pump producers. ONE of them Eden.

Same pump, different outer casing. Certain specifications will be "accentuated" or played down as brand owner sees fit.

BTW, Dean NewJet are actually centrifugal pumps meant for recirculation or LIFT, not actually powerheads.
NOTHING stops you from using it as a powerhead though.

A powerhead, is merely a pump geared to higher flow low pressure needs. Presumed to be attached to a tank's side for a lateral output, instead of ejecting ''UP".

That we actually use them for SO MANY purposes just shows our ingenuity( or even our stupidity) inmatching units according to varied functions.
