    Hi All

    Another question for today ;-)

My current setup is 80cm x 65cm and 70cm high. I have started adding SPS over the past few months and wanted to understand a little more about flow especially around the SPS corals.

Does the powerhead need to be pointed at them directly or do the just need flow over them and how do you determine what that flow should be? What is considered strong/moderate?

Sorry for the quick drawing but just wanted to illustrate my current setup

I currently have two powerheads, Vortech MP40 indicated as black and a Jeboa WP-25 indicated in red on the above. The Vortech is running at about 60% and the Jeboa at 100%.

Should I move the powerhead further to the back of the tank and should the be opposite each other? Another question would the return outlet create much flow?

    Thanks
    Paul

No point in blasting the coral flesh from the skeleton. Good strong flow past the coral that would pull out the water within coral branches and replaces that with new fresh in oxygen water is by far better. Search for articles on gyre flow and why its considered better.
